Nineveh Plain, Iraq (AINA) -- According to the official website of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, the largest Christian political group in Iraq, its headquarters in the town of Bashiqa on the Nineveh Plain, outside Mosul, was attacked by masked gunmen on Monday. There are no reports of injuries and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
An Iraqi government order for the establishment of an official police force in the Nineveh Plain has been obstructed since 2006 by the Kurdish political party led by Massoud Barazani, whose militia is infiltrating the area, leaving the Assyrians and other minorities in the Nineveh Plain living in constant fear.
