The Arab world is ethnically extremely diverse, as many non-Arab communities also live in it. The region encompasses many ethnic groups and religious communities. In addition to the Arabs, there are Kurds, Assyrians, Copts, and many other smaller and larger groups. Religious communities such as Christians, Jews, Sabaeans, Yazidis, and Bahai also reside in the region.
Ancient symbols on a 2,700-year-old temple which have baffled experts for over a century have been explained by Trinity Assyriologist Dr Martin Worthington. The sequence of 'mystery symbols' were on view on temples at various locations in ancient city of Dūr-Šarrukīn, present day Khorsabad, Iraq, which was ruled by Sargon II, king of Assyria (721-704 BC).

Opening an incubator business center to help refugees and immigrants start new businesses has been a dream of Dr. Noori Barka for more than a decade. On April 11, that dream came to fruition at a ceremony launching the Chaldean Community Council's new incubator business center at 405 East Lexington Avenue in El Cajon. The center will provide help for low-income and underserved refugee communities.

(AINA) -- The Senate of France passed a resolution on Monday recognizing the Turkish genocide of Assyrians in World War 1, which killed 750,000 Assyrians (75%), as well as one million Greeks and 1.5 million Armenians. The vote was 300 in favor and 2 against. Turkey condemned the resolution, calling it "null and void.
"It is time for the death and suffering of both the Armenian and Assyrian-Chaldean peoples to be recognized." That was the message of Nicolas Sarkozy, French president from 2007-2012, during the annual dinner on February 27 of the Association of Assyrian-Chaldeans in France (AACF).

On April 15th, 2024, the Assyrian community of Sydney, Australia, suffered a shocking and malicious hate crime, as a leading bishop, Mar Mari Emmanuel, was stabbed during a live-streamed service. The attacker, a 16-year-old Muslim extremist, was promptly detained by parishioners and arrested by the Sydney police.
A landmark conference about Syriac Studies brought more than 70 researchers from 20 countries to Durham last month. The event was a hub for academic collaboration and knowledge sharing. It was also a formative experience for early-career scholars.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Four teenagers plotted to buy guns and attack Jewish people days after a bishop was stabbed in a Sydney church, according to police documents cited in news reports on Monday. Five teens, aged 14 to 17, were charged in a Sydney court on Thursday last week with a range of offenses, including conspiring to engage in or planning a terrorist act.
Assyrian Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel has delivered his first sermon since he was allegedly stabbed in what was declared a terrorist act by NSW Police.
